A nicely detailed oil painting of the West Point Lighthouse by English / American artist Frederick Tordoff (1939-). Tordoff was born in Whitley Bay, England, and served in the Royal Air Force, traveling extensively, later working for the Cunard Steamship Company, painting on many of his long world travels. He eventually opened a gallery in England, later moving to New Jersey, where he has painted many Hudson River scenes, whaling ships, and other marine paintings of the Northeast coast. Oil on panel, signed and titled on verso label “West Point Lighthouse on the Hudson River”, and housed in a 19th c nicely gessoed giltwood frame with minor losses and imperfections. Dimensions: 8” h x 13” w, actual; 12 ½” h x 17 ¾” w, framed.
