This unsigned charcoal sketch of a nude woman sitting in an armchair reading a book was done by Leon Kroll (1886-1974). Kroll was born in New York City and studied at the Art Students League in NYC and at the Academie Julian in Paris. He lived and worked most of his life in NYC and is best known for realist landscapes, figures and murals. Charcoal on paper, unsigned, estate stamp lower right, matted and framed under glass in a giltwood frame. Dimensions: 18” h x 12” w, sight; 36 ½” h x 27 3/8” w, framed.
