This wonderful impressionist oil painting was painted by United Kingdom artist Frederick Stead (1863-1940). Stead was born in Shipley, Yorkshire, and later moved to Bradford, where he taught at the Bradford School of Arts. He exhibited at the Royal Academy and was a member of the Yorkshire Society of Artists. Oil on canvas, signed lower right, and housed in a complimenting gold frame. Notice the train crossing the railroad bridge, as well as the gondolier in the river, and the figures in the background under the bridge. Dimensions: 30” h x 36” w, actual; 35 ½” h x 41 ½” w, framed.
