This ship’s bell clock in brass case on copper and brass stand is in a classic ship’s wheel design, with a 3 ¾” silvered brass dial marked Tilden-Thurber and Chelsea’s Ship Bell, eight-day time and ship's bell strike movement with lever escapement. The Chelsea Clock Company was founded in 1897 in Chelsea, Massachusetts, just outside of Boston, and is very well known for its nautical clocks. In fine working condition, with some expected surface wear from age and use. S/N 762208 (1970-1974). Dimensions: 7” overall height with a 5 ½” diameter base.
