This beautifully detailed bronze casting was created by sculptors Hippolyte-Francois Moreau (French, 1832-1917), who sculpted the hunter and Prosper Lecourtier (French, 1851-1924), who sculpted the dogs. Its title in the original French is Piqueur au Relais. The Hunter and the Hounds shows a French huntsman of the Louis XV period out in the field accompanied his two hounds. This 20th century cast bronze is signed on the base H.F. Moreau & Lecourtier, and retains a wonderful warm brown patina and is in excellent overall condition, with minimal wear from age. Dimensions: 30 ½” h x 13” diameter base.
