This watercolor was done by American artist Conger A. Metcalf (1914-1998). Metcalf was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and later lived in the Boston, Massachusetts area, where he became well known for his unique figure-genre paintings with translucent washes of soft colors. Mixed media (pencil and watercolor) on paper, signed lower right, and housed in a linen matted wooden frame under glass. Dimensions: 12" h x 8 ¾" w, sight; 25 ½" h x 22 ½" w, framed.
