This colorful still life oil painting was done by American artist Randall Vernon Davey (1887-1964). Davey was born in East Orange, New Jersey and studied under Robert Henri, whom he became very good friends with, and later moved to New Mexico, where he became well known for his still life, genre, portrait, nudes, and landscape paintings. Oil on canvas, signed lower left, titled on verso Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden (Smithsonian Museum) label "Flowers in Blue Vase," and housed in a gold gilt frame (some losses to frame). Dimensions: 24" h x 20" w, actual; 30 ½" h x 26 ½" w, framed.
