This nice oil painting of a Rhode Island landscape with sheep, probably Kettle Point, was painted by Canadian artist Thomas Harris Robinson (1834-1888). Robinson was born in Nova Scotia, traveled frequently to Europe over the years, and eventually settled in the Providence, Rhode Island area, where he became known for his animal and landscape paintings. Oil on canvas, relined, signed lower left, and housed in its original gold gessoed frame. The painting shoes some craquelure, and the frame also has some repairs, restorations, and minor losses. The painting has been professionally cleaned. Dimensions: 20" h x 30" w, actual; 30" h x 40" w, framed.
