Mural by Rufus Porter from Prescott Tavern in East Jaffrey, New Hampshire, c. 1824. This panel was removed from the tavern prior to its being torn down in 1950. This mural hung in the Goyette Museum in Peterborough, NH until the museum closed in 1960. The primary panels from the Prescott Tavern are in the MFA in Boston. This panel has been documented by Linda Lefko and features a rare strawberry and lotus border. Plaster is stable and on original lathe board. Dimensions: 77"H x 31"W.
Update 1/26/19: Recent scholarship discussion may have revealed that this panel was not painted by Rufus Porter.
