This powerful oil painting was painted by American artist Stanley Wingate Woodward (1890-1970). Woodward was born in Malden, Mass and lived in Rockport, Mass, where he became well known for his marine and seascape paintings, as well as being an illustrator for Collier's and Ford Times magazines. Oil on panel, signed lower left, and housed in a new silver painted frame. Dimensions: 12" h x 16" w, actual; 19 ½" h x 23 ½" w, framed.
