This colorful harbor scene was painted by American artist Clayton Roy (LeRoy) Morse (1913-1997). He was born in Calais, Maine and later moved to Boston, where he eventually studied under Aldro T. Hibbard and became life long friends with Emile Gruppe. In the 1920's, he opened the Rockport Summer School for Drawing and Painting. He is best known for his marine genre and railway view paintings. Oil on panel, signed on reverse in its original gold frame. Dimensions: 12"h x 16"l, actual, 18 ½" h x 22 ½"l, framed.
