Wonderful oil painting of a marine scene with large sailing ships painted in 1881 by well-known American artist Marshall Johnson Jr. (1850-1921). Johnson lived and worked most of his life in Massachusetts, was a member of the Boston Art Club and Copley Society and is best-known for realist marine scenes. Oil on canvas, signed and dated lower left, label from Victor Waddington Galleries, Dublin on reverse. Housed in a beautiful and original, gold gilded frame. In good overall condition with one repair found and one very small hole at the center of the canvas. Dimensions: 12"h x 20"l actual; 21"h x 29"l framed.
