Oil on panel with original frame. Dimensions: 8" x 10" (unframed); 15" x 17.25" (framed). George Forster was born in Bavaria, Germany and came to New York in 1865 with his wife and children. The artist occasionally exhibited under the name "Foster," a common misspelling of his surname. Forster is known for his ability to portray texture in his paintings and his common combination of fruit and animals.
