Antique hand decorated and finely ribbed Royal Worcester bone china saucer with hanging garland and floral designs. The price is for one saucer and there are currently two available (second ships for free when buyer purchases both together for delivery to the same US mainland address). The neoclassical style of the decoration is a revival of a late 1700s pattern used by Worcester both under the late Dr Wall Period and into the Flight period. These saucers date from 1881 or about one hundred years after the pattern was first used on Worcester porcelain. The saucers have delicate spiral molded ribbing which has also been called shankering by collectors. The rim have dentil accenting in burnished gold. The end result produces a nice effect where two shades of green have been added by hand to very delicate leaf and chain designs rendered in thin black outlines added using an overglaze transfer. Gold rosettes pin the tops of the garland and gold bands formally organize the decoration. Both saucers are impressed with Worcester's standard circular mark with a crescent 51 in the enter and one saucer also has a puce Worcester crowned C51 mark with Mortlock's London logo and the pattern number written in red as B/471. Mortlock was a high end retailer that marketed and sold Worcester porcelain in the 1800s along with other major factories such as Wedgwood, Minton, etc..

These saucers display well and can be hung along a wall with other finely decorated dishes and saucers or displayed in a china cabinet or dish rack. Or if you have the matching cups, or a complementary pair of saucerless cup, you can join these saucer with them. One of the saucers has an impressed 'S' mark that indicates that they were made in 1881. This date also fits the B/471 series. So if you are looking for a nice quality antique English porcelain small dish or saucer, then do seriously consider purchasing one )or both) while they are still available. And as always, each saucer also comes with my Docs Antiques `no fault' satisfaction guarantee or you may return it using my return policy for a refund.

SIZE: These saucers measure about 5 5/16 inches across at the rim and stand 1 inch tall. They have foot rings that have diameters measuring 2 1/4 inches (Mortlock marked one) and 2 1/2 inches (other one). As noted above, the saucers make a nice matching pair that can be displayed along a wall (use on safe dish hangers), on stands along a shelf or mantle or in a hutch or china cabinet and they will capture attention in most any setting.

CONDITION: The two saucers are in excellent condition with just one minor declaration to note. One of the saucers has an internal fissure or straight spider hairline that is very tight and measures one inch long. This is found on the Mortlock marked saucer and the fissure is stained from years of use. Beyond this, the two saucers have no other defects and absolutely NO chips, NO major stains, NO major scratches, NO repairs and NO restorations. The burnished gold gilding and the over glaze enameling are more than 99% intact and the glaze. If the buyer is not completely satisfied, then she/he may return the pair for a refund (see our refund policy noted below, saucers sold as a single lot and must be returned together).

SHIPPING: US mainland buyers pay $7.90 for well packed and insured USPS Priority Mail for one saucer and if purchasing both, the second saucer is shipped for free when sent in same box to same address (this is a savings of $1 to $4 since insurance & tracking are also included in the price quoted). No handling or packing fees are ever charged and the item will be double boxed for maximum protection. All international buyers will pay only the exact shipping costs for all verifiable locations outside the continental US mainland. Please note that import duties, taxes and other charges are not included in the item price or shipping costs and these additional charges are the Buyer's responsibility. We do offer a petition for VAT relief on the behalf of the buyer which may help reduce certain import taxes should your country allow such petitions for items over 100 years old. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to purchasing this item -- thanks.

RETURN POLICY: Satisfaction and peace of mind are guaranteed for all Docs Antiques listings -- please refer directly to our Service Pledge and our Return Policy for full details. And this means that if you are unhappy with your purchase, you may return these ROYAL WORCESTER HAND ENAMELED & GILT SAUCERS 1881 undamaged by sending them back post marked within seven days of receipt for a refund (see terms of sale for full details). Items damaged during shipping are covered by insurance and while this rarely happens because we double box, we will gladly help you file your claim should it ever be necessary (we have had no claims for damage from shipping in the past three years). Of course, never send an item back that was damaged by shipping since that will void the original insurance. Instead, contact us for help and we will gladly assist.

PAYMENT OPTIONS: We accept checks on US Banks (no temporary checks, all checks must have 9 digit routing code; item ships after check fully clears), USPS money orders, PayPal or contact us with your verified address for more options. If you wish to use a credit card by way of PayPal, that option becomes available after you submit a Ruby Lane purchase order (see Terms of Sale for additional information). Once submitted, a PayPal icon will appear at the bottom of this listing and then you may proceed from there if you wish to pay via PayPal.
