This is a signed 1st edition copy of August Derleth's "Village Daybook". Published by Pellegrini & Cudahy, Chicago. There is a tear on the spine of the dust jacket (there is a plastic cover now over the jacket). The pages are very slightly discolored from age wear but, the books binding is in very good condition. A gleaning of the best passages from [the author's] journal of daily life in Sac Prairie, Wisconsin. With the humor of a Mark Twain and the sensitivity of a Thoreau, he keeps a record of the people and their countryside, of anecdotes told in the harness shop, and of all the small events that are the very fabric of life for millions of Americans.
