This is an Antique Victor Silver Company silver-plated, footed jewelry casket made of quadruple plate. It has a lovely sea goddess on the top, surrounded by a floral design. The top of the lid has initiaIs engraved on it but, I'm not sure what they are? The bottom of the box is engraved "Patented May 14.1907 Victor Silver Co. Quadruple Plate #6151. The base measures 7" X 6.5" and it stands approx. 3" high. As you can see the silk lining is in rough condition but, the box is in beautiful condition.
Jewelry caskets are intended to provide special protection to one or more special pieces of fine jewelry. They were also used as presentation boxes for gifts and proposals.
