Dating to ca. 1200 BCE, this museum-quality New Kingdom Armana faience necklace is the first of a limited number of superb ancient bead necklaces that I am listing exclusively for the consideration of my Ruby Lane clientele!
This superb ancient Egyptian faience bead necklace dates to the 18th Dynasty of the New Kingdom, and is of Armana origin, a culture known for the exceptional quality of their faience bead-making in the 14th- and 13th-century BCE.
This exquisite necklace measures 30" long, and boasts elongated pole beads, lentoid- and melon-shaped beads, and florette-shaped beads ranging in color from deepest turquoise to rich emerald and royal blue! There is even a tiny flower bead amulet at the back of the necklace! SO PRETTY! This necklace weighs 21 grams.
The Armana craftsmen produced faience beads with the thickest and deepest glazes, and this necklace is a museum-quality example! All of the beads are intact, and all have been lightly cleaned of burial encrustation. The colors are the best I have seen in Egyptian faience beads of any period!
A necklace of this fine quality would have been crafted for an Egyptian lady or gentleman to wear during their lifetime, rather than used as grave goods. These are not the poor-quality "mummy beads" which make up the majority of the ancient Egyptian faience beads available on the market, but bold, well-preserved beads which would have been worn with pride during life, and buried with their owner in protective clay pots to preserve their color and condition. They are no less lovely or wearable after 3200 years, and have survived into the 21st century in a magnificent state of preservation!
These beads were excavated from the Armana district of Egypt during the past four years, and I consider myself very fortunate to have acquired them. They have been re-strung on sturdy, waxed thread in the exact style in which they were found, and they are ready to wear. This jewel absolutely glows against anything you wear it with, and what a history! Provenance will be provided to the buyer, with a COA and valuation for your insurance purposes at no extra charge. Remember, these beads are NOT reproductions, they are the genuine article, and are well over 3000 years old!
This necklace will make an important and highly-wearable addition to any collection of ancient Egyptian jewelry, or a stellar holiday gift for that special lady fond of Egyptian history! (Or better yet, treat yourself this year; you deserve it!) I have a number of stunning ancient hardstone bead necklaces that I will be listing over the next couple of weeks, but this is the ONLY Egyptian faience jewel I have in stock, and it is breathtaking! Do not miss this treasure from the Valley of the Kings; up to 60-day layaway is available, and USPS Priorty mail shipping is FREE!!
