Dating to c.330 BCE for the magnificent silver tetradrachm, this custom-mounted pendant holds over 2300 years of history, and is suitable for ear by a lady or a gentleman!

Measuring 1 3/4" long with the large bail and 1 1/8" square for the pendant, this is easily the finest mounted ancient coin that this dealer has ever handled, and it has been custom-mounted in a hefty frame of 14k gold (unmarked but tested)! The true treasure here is the genuine ancient Greek silver tetradrachm, which displays a high-relief profile of Alexander the Great (20/21 July 356 BC – 10/11 June 323 BC) dressed as Herakles, with the Nimean lion's skin draped over his head! The reverse of the coin displays Alexander as Zeus enthroned, the god holding bird of prey in one hand. The reverse of the coin reads "Basileus" in Greek letters, which translates to "king."

It can be difficult to attribute the age and mint of ancient Alexander tetradrachms, as the were issued posthumously for over 200 years all over the Greek empire. This example is a lifetime issue, but it is difficult to ascertain where in Alexander's kingdom it was minted. Two clues may help with researching this; the mint mark is to the left of the figure at the 9:00 position, and beneath the thone are the Greek letters "P.E." Needless to say, this coin is a fine investment in and of itself! It is of extra-fine grade (only one in several hundred are found in this condition), and is almost as crisp as the day it was minted 2350 years ago!

The coin measures 24.3 mm in diameter, and is collet-set in the substantial gold pendant you see here. This gold pendant was custom-crafted by the same skilled lapidary who set many of Mel Fisher's ancient coins from the Atocha, and she did a marvelous job. The textured, 14k gold frame, with it's hammered surface, is the perfect backdrop to this historic coin. The large bail allows the pendant to be worn on a heavy gold chain, and it is suitable for wear by either a lady or a gentleman! SO SPECIAL!

Weighing in at 27.14 grams, this historic pendant represents a fine investment for anyone fascinated with ancient Greek coinage, and is oh-so-wearable! If you collect the ULTIMATE in ancient coin jewelry, this pendant belongs around your neck and in your collection! It would also make a stellar gift for anyone fond of the coins of antiquity, and will be shipped in a gift box. As with all of my item pre-dating 1700, this pendant will be sold with a COA and valuation for your insurance purposes at no extra cost. I have this jewel priced a that most coin dealers would charge for the coin alone, but when I get a good deal, so do you! Do not miss this one-of-a-kind pendant; up to 90-day layaway is available, and USPS Priority mail shipping is FREE!
