Dating to c.1830-1840, this transitional William IV Swiss enamel bracelet is a magnificently wearable statement piece!
Measuring a grand 2 1/4" at the widest point, tapering to 10 mm wide at the clasp, this exquisite bracelet boasts a massive natural citrine set in a highly-ornate frame with colorful Swiss enameling top and bottom as well as side to side! The octagonal step-cut citrine measures 27 mm x 9.5 mm x 7.6 mm, and weighs a calculated 21.6 carats on it's own! The citrine is collet-set in an open-backed frame of copper-gilt, with an applied pinchbeck frame featuring golden trumpet flowers, scallops, and acanthus leaves!
The body of the bracelet is wrought from copper-gilt, and displays an entire rainbow of enameled colors! Translucent red and opaque white, blue, black, green and turquoise enamel cover every possible surface, with red and green roses on a white ground, as well as abstract florets and Moorish revival motifs. The bracelet terminates in an adjustable slide clasp, which will fit a wrist between 6 1/2" to 7 5/8" long; it is more than large enough to fit a modern lady's wrist! Sections of the reverse of this cuff-style jewel are counter-enameled in yellow.
The width of this bracelet is very typical of the bracelets fashionable during the late 1830s, and it is no less impressive today! This brilliant bracelet is in excellent condition for it's 180-year history; the citrine is perfect, and there are no alterations or repairs. However, the enamel work at the 12:00 and 6:00 positions are rather worn; this is not noticeable when the bracelet is on the arm, but I have taken this bit of acceptable wear into consideration when setting my asking price. Needless to say, this Swiss beauty looks nothing short of fabulous with any outfit, and is truly "runway-worthy!"
Weighing in at 40.58 grams, this superb survival will MAKE any outfit, and has at least another 180 years of wear left in it! The citrine is the MOST delicious shade of honey-yellow, and adds just the right amount of sparkle and glow to this heirloom-worthy jewel! I have never seen another quite like it, and do not expect to find another!
If you collect the finest in Swiss enamel jewelry, this impressive bracelet belongs on your arm and in your collection! It would also make a splendid gift for any lady fond of historic jewelry, and will be shipped in a gift box. Do not miss this phenomenal beauty; up to 60-day layaway is available, and USPS Priority mail shipping is FREE!
