I am back from my UK buying trip, and have brought back a treasury of early, investment-quality jewels for the consideration of my Ruby Lane clientele!
Dating to c.1880-1890, I was thrilled to discover this timelessly-beautiful diamond ring during my travels! This exquisite ring boasts nine old-mine cut diamonds of exceptional whiteness and clarity in a classically-beautiful setting of 18k gold (marked 18C; tested)!
The bezel of this gorgeous ring measures 15 mm in diameter, and the shoulders are decorated with fluting, tapering back to a plain hoop shank. These are the sort of antique diamonds I adore; each is hand-cut and bruted, and these gems boast the open culets, small tables, and delightful chunkiness that one simply does not see in modern gemstones!
The center diamond is securely set with eight long silver-topped prongs, and is set ever-so-slightly above the halo of eight smaller diamonds for extra dimension! This diamond measures 4.3 mm x 4.23 x 2.64 mm and weighs a calculated 35 points. It is also white and bright; as most collectors know, one cannot grade diamonds according to modern GIA standards, but all of these diamonds are G/H in color, and boast good clarity, equivalent to a modern SI1-SI2! There are no unsightly carbon inclusions in these stones, which are clear as a bell even under 10x magnification! This ring weighs a substantial 5.41 grams.
The halo of eight prong-set diamonds are also perfectly matched for color; these diamonds each measures approx. 3.7 mm x 3.17 mm and weigh approx. 15 points! That adds up to 1.6 carats of the best diamonds available to the Victorian lapidary! This ring is currently size 6 1/2, but the plainness of the rear of the shank would allow for easy re-sizing by a good bench jeweler for little cost. Today, this fiery dazzler looks splendid worn with anything from blue jeans to a ball gown, and is truly investment-quality. Best of all, this ring is just as fresh today as when it was first worn by a lady of wealth and fashion over 130 years ago; all of the stones are intact, without chips, damage, or replacements! SO BEAUTIFUL!
If you cherish the finest in antique diamond rings, this classic jewel belongs on your hand and in your collection! The GG valuation for $6,235.00 shown in the last photo will be sold with this ring at no extra charge. It would also make the ultimate holiday gift for any lady fond of the best in diamond jewelry, and will be shipped in a gift box. (Better yet, treat yourself to this heirloom-worthy treasure this year - you are worth it!) Do not miss this exquisite cluster ring; up to 120-day layaway is available, and USPS Priority mail shipping is FREE!
