Dating to c.1870-1880, this beautifully-constructed Victorian bracelet celebrates all things Irish!
Measuring 1 1/8" at it's widest point, this beautiful cuff-style bracelet is wrought from sterling-grade silver gilded with high-karat gold, and boasts a large shamrock comprised of green chalcedony cabochon leaves, and two additional shamrocks in silver gilt which boast very "3-D" trailing vines and hand-engraving (silver unmarked but tested)!
Each chalcedony cabochon measures 20 mm x 10 mm x 7 mm tall, and each weighs a calculated 9.85 carats! These cabochons are the MOST lovely shade of vibrant green, and each is set in an individual collet enhanced with rope work. The large shamrock also features a twining stem and tendrils. . . this is the kind of naturalistic detail for which the Victorians were famous! The shamrocks and tendrils are mounted with sturdy hand-cut screws onto the silver gilt foundation, which also displays elegant, hand-engraved detail at the hinges!
Best of all, this bracelet has made it into the 21st-century in as fine a condition as the most discerning collector could hope for! This jewel retains 100% of it's original fire-gilding, and is free from damage, dents, repairs, losses or replacements! It is also large enough to fit a modern lady's wrist up to 8"; unlike most bracelets of this era, this beauty has room to spare! This bracelet has not been cleaned, and boasts the rich "bloom" to the gilding which only the passing of generations can impart. It could easily be polished up to it's original shining glory, but I prefer to retain the patina on my pieces, as it is a testament to their considerable history.
Weighing in at 32.35 grams, this 140+ year old bracelet looks as if it had rarely seen regular wear! If you love the best in Irish-motif or Victorian jewelry, this Emerald Isle beauty belongs on your wrist and in your collection! It would also make a thrilling gift for any lady fond of the finest in antique bracelets, and will be shipped in a gift box. Do not miss this lucky Victorian beauty; layaway is not available on this item, but it is priced for fast sale, and USPS Priority mail shipping is FREE!
