Dating to c.1860-1870, I am beyond thrilled to present this highly-rare French Victorian garnet "eternity" bracelet for the consideration of my Ruby Lane clientele!
Measuring 2 1/2" inside diameter and 9 mm wide, this jewel is certainly one-of-a-kind, and the design translates perfectly for wear by the 21st-century lady! Hand-wrought from sterling-grade silver (French assay and maker's marks on clasp and several inside the collets), this rare beauty boasts an unbroken line of 20 perfectly-matched old-cut Bohemian garnets measuring 8 mm in diameter, and weighing a calculated 1 1/4 carat each! That adds up to a total of 25 carats of rich, red, glittering antique-cut gemstones!
Each garnet is individually mounted in substantial, pushed-up, rubbed-over, open-backed collets of sterling-grade silver. The garnets are securely set both front and back with such skill that it reminds one of the unsurpassable quality of 19th-century French lapidary work; this piece is not a mass-produced one, but was custom-made for a lady of fashion in the 1860s. As is the case with most Victorian hinged bracelets, this one is oval in silhouette, but fits a lady's wrist "just so," and will fit a wrist up to 7" long. JUST DAZZLING!
Best of all, this jewel is in magnificently-preserved condition; it has been treated with kid gloves for generations! It is 100% all-original, without damage OR repairs to the silver, or any visible wear to the garnets. It even still retains it's original safety chain! The "tongue-in-groove" finding snaps invisibly into the garnet-set clasp, and is secure. Needless to say, this bracelet really lights up on the wrist, and is suitable for day or evening wear. This is one jewel that will take you from the office to the opera in high Victorian style, and looks fabulous worn with anything from jeans to that little black cocktail dress!
Weighing in at 23.91 grams, this is a top-quality French bracelet which I cannot recommend highly enough; it is certain to become a staple of your antique jewelry collection, and is truly investment-worthy. If you collect the FINEST in antique bracelets, this 165+ year old stunner belongs on your wrist and in your collection! It would also make a thrilling gift for any lady fond of the finest in antique French jewelry, and will be shipped in a gift box. Do not miss this beauty; up to 60-day layaway is available, and USPS Priority mail shipping is FREE!
