SO HANDSOME Unisex Bloodstone Armorial Signet/9k Ring, Lion Rampant, c.1890!
Dating to c.1890, this handsome late-Victorian signet ring of a lion rampart is a wonderfully-wearable jewel for a lady or a gentleman!
Measuring 5/8" x 1/2" across the bezel, this elegant signet ring boasts an engraving of a heraldic lion rampart cut into a beautifully-figured bloodstone! The lion is carved in exquisite detail, and faces right, paws reared and teeth bared as if about to attack! The engraving is quite deep for a ring of this date, and the bloodstone is deepest greenish-black with vibrant flecks of red which make this variety of jasper chalcedony so desirable!
The seal is collet-set in an open-backed mounting of 9k gold (faint hallmark to inner shank; tested). The shoulders boast elegant forks, tapering back to a plain hoop shank. This ring is currently a size 7, but the plainness of the rear of the shank would allow for easy re-sizing by a good bench jeweler at little charge.
Suitable for wear as a right-hand ring for a lady, or a distinguished pinky ring for a gentleman, this ring is in excellent condition for it's 125+ year history. The only bit of visible wear is a tiny nibble to one edge of the gold bezel measuring approx. 3 mm long; this is invisible when the ring is worn, and the seal is secure. I have set my price with this bit of acceptable wear in mind. This ring is still wonderfully-wearable, and easily has another 125 years left of wear in it!
If you collect the best in Victorian armorial rings, this impressive lion wants to make his den in your collection! This ring would also make a thoughtful gift for any lady or gentleman fond of English armorial or bloodstone jewelry, and will be shipped in a gift box. Do not miss this ring adorned with the King of the Beasts; layaway is not available on this item, but USPS Priority mail shipping is FREE!
