Dating to c.1910, this super-feminine hardstone cameo ring is an Edwardian-era English beauty!
Measuring 3/4" x 5/8" across the bezel, this lovely cameo ring is a delight to behold as well as a joy to wear! The sardonyx cameo depicts the bust of a lady of fashion facing left, her long hair swept up in Gibson-girl fashion, and tied with a bandeau. The lady is beautifully-carved in high relief, and the rich mahogany color of the background really sets off the details of the pure white figure! Note also that the lady is nude; this is quite unusual for a cameo of this period, and hints at the Neoclassical revival of the second decade of the 20th century!
The cameo is in perfect condition, without cracks or chips. It is set into a simple setting of 9k gold (marked and tested). This is the sort of antique cameo ring that one could wear every day; it is just the right size to get noticed, and the quality of the cameo is head and shoulders above most examples I have seen of this era! This ring is a size 5, but the plainness of the rear of the shank would allow for easy re-sizing by a good bench jeweler for little cost.
Weighing in at 3.18 grams, this ring has made it into the 21st-century in fresh-as-a-daisy condition, and is certain to become a "go-to" ring for any occasion! If you collect the finest in Edwardian jewelry, this lovely lady belongs on your hand and in your collection! It would also make a thoughtful gift for any lady fond of antique cameos, and will be shipped in a gift box. Do not miss this sublime ring; layaway is not available on this item, but it is priced for quick sale, and USPS Priority mail shipping is FREE!
