Dating to c.1910, this beautiful ring is packed with fabulous, blazing-white diamonds, and is a highly-wearable Edwardian classic!
Measuring 1/2" x 1/2" in diameter across the bezel, this ring boasts eight fiery Old European-cut diamonds set in a classic early 20th-century mounting! This classic cluster is suitable for wear by a lady or a gentleman, and is a true Edwardian charmer! The center diamond measures 4 mm x 3 mm and weighs approx. 20 points. This stone is framed by seven additional old European-cut diamonds measuring 3.5 mm in diameter, and weighing approx. 15 points each. That adds up to 1 1/4 carats of beautifully matched antique diamonds!
All of the stones are collet- and bead-set in a lovely, openwork mounting of sterling silver (unmarked but tested). The shoulders and shank of this delightful jewel are wrought in yellow gold, with decorative, applied sterling silver leaves applied to each shoulder (marked "14K;"tested). The bezel is even embellished with hand-engraved forget-me-nots; how sweet is THAT? As most collectors know, one cannot grade antique diamonds according to modern GIA standards, but these stones are white and bright, with no unsightly carbon inclusions, even under 10x magnification! They are the equivalent to G in color, VS1 clarity, and are all perfectly-matched! Best of all, the classic cluster is suitable for wear by a lady or a gentleman, and will always be in style!
This elegant jewel is currently a size 10, but the plainness of the rear of the shank would allow for easy re-sizing by a good bench jeweler for little cost. Weighing in at 5.89 grams, this is a substantial ring which has made it into the 21st-century in overall excellent condition, with no losses or replacements. The only sign of wear is some smoothing to the engravings on the sterling silver shoulders (this is to be expected in a ring which has hit the century mark, but does not detract from its appearance or value). Otherwise, this ring is as fresh as when it was first worn by a lady or gentleman of wealth and fashion over 100 years ago!
If you love the best in Edwardian-era jewelry, this diamond ring belongs on your hand and in your collection! It would also make a wonderful gift for any lady or gent fond in the finest in antique diamond jewelry, and will be shipped in a gift box.
