Dating to c.1830-1840, this transitional late Georgian necklace is part of a magnificent high-karat gold and coral cameo demi-parure that I am offering for the first time in my 11+ years as a Platinum Level dealer on Ruby Lane!

This museum-worthy demi-parure consists of earrings, a brooch, and this magnificent necklace! Measuring 15" wearable length with a 2 1/4" drop, this necklace has made it into the 21st century in absolutely MINT condition! The jewelry of the 1830s drew on both Rococo and Gothic design elements, and this necklace combines the influences in the MOST delightful manner! Wrought in 15k yellow gold, this jewel boasts repousse links, alternating between polished, sculpted links with lovely elements which almost look like ruffled cuffs, and links set with three coral cabochons in cusped, closed-backed collets! All of the links are flat at the back, so as to lie perfectly against the neck. Each of the links measures 1" x 3/8" wide. The centerpiece of this wonderful jewel boasts a Sardinian coral cameo of a classical figure, which measures 1/2" x 3/8" and is securely held by twelve clamshell-motif claws - SO BEAUTIFUL!

The center cameo is further adorned with three hand-engraved, textured leaves and beadwork, and is set into a plaque which boasts a fantasy of Rococo scrolls! Descending from the reverse of the plaque are two lengths of golden chain joined at the bottom with a plaque set with five small coral cabochons, an the two terminals are capped with wonderful tassels! As with the vast majority of jewelry dating to the 1830s, this necklace is hollow-constructed, with solid golden elements. The repoussee stamped construction is characteristic of the jewelry manufactured in England and France circa 1835, which means that these jewels look almost as pretty viewed from the back as they are from the front! Best of all, this necklace is just as fresh today as when it first graced the neck of a lady of wealth and fashion in the 1830s; there are NO losses, NO repairs, and NO damage to the gold or to the coral! It even retains its original gold tube clasp, which is in perfect working order. Considering that this jewel is 180 years old, this is nothing short of a miracle!

Weighing in at 12.84 grams, this necklace is desirable on SO many levels! It feels wonderful around the neck, and is supposed to be worn at choker length. It brightens up anything you choose to wear it with, from blue jeans to a ball gown, and will take you from the office to the opera in high 1830s style! Simply a highly-rare and sought-after survival, this necklace certain to thrill the serious collector, and represents a fine, wearable investment! I will be offering the matching earrings and brooch in separate listings, but should you wish to acquire the set, you can take 10% off the sale price on all three pieces! If you collect the BEST in antique jewelry, these earrings belong in your collection! They would also make a fabulous gift for any lady fond of the ultimate in antique earrings, and will be shipped in a gift box. Do not miss these magnificent jewels; up to 90-day layaway is available, and USPS Priority mil shipping is FREE!
