Dating to c.1800-1810, this is easily the most pristine jewel I have had the pleasure to discover this season, and it is a highly-wearable classic!
Measuring a stately 3/4" in diameter across the bezel, this gorgeous ring is set with a phenomenal flat-cut, foil-backed pyrope garnet surrounded by a halo of creamy white seed pearls! The garnet measures 14mm in diameter, and weighs a calculated 6.19 carats (it "faces up" closer to 10 carats on the hand, but the stone is not deeply-cut)! The garnet is set in a pushed-up, closed-backed collet of 15k gold with just the right amount of rose in the alloy to compliment this stunning gemstone (unmarked but tested). This garnet is completely mesmerizing; the bright foil is in perfect condition, and flashes with red fire from every angle of the light!
The garnet is framed by 23 natural seed pearls measuring approx 1.5 mm each. The pearls are in outstanding, all-original condition, with very little nacre wear. The back of the bezel displays the cleanest work I have ever seen on the part of the Regency-era English lapidary; whomever made this jewel was clearly a master! As with many rings dating to the first decade of the 19th century, the shank is constructed from a simple 15k yellow gold hoop. Best of all, this ring appears as if it has never been worn! I cannot imagine where it has been hidden away for the last two centuries, but it is free of damage, repairs, replacements, or any sign of wear! This lovely jewel steps right out of the pages of history in fresh-as-a-daisy condition; I do not throw the term "museum-quality" around loosely, but in this case, it applies! SO RARE!
This ring is a size 6 1/4, and can be sized, but only by laser, as to apply heat to this ring would destroy both the foil and the pearls. Weighing in at 5.28 grams, this ring is an investment-worthy classic; it looks just as beautiful today as when it first graced the hand of a lady of wealth and fashion in Regency England over 200 years ago! If you collect the ULTIMATE in Georgian-era jewelry, this ring belongs on your hand and in your collection! It would also make a fantastic gift for any lady fond of the best in historic jewelry, and will be shipped in a gift box. Do not miss this rarity; I never expect to find another as pristine as this, up to 60-day layaway is available, and USPS Priority mail shipping is FREE!
