Dating to 1720-1740, this fabulous decorative ring has made it through nearly three centuries in untouched condition, and is a highly-wearable jewel today!

Measuring 6 mm x 7 mm across the garnet-set bezel, this marvelous early 18th-century jewel is a genuine rarity, and a fabulous example of early 18th-century design! Rings dating to the first four decades of the 18th century are usually quite plain and restrained when compared to their Rococo cousins; this example boasts a bright, flat-cut rhodolite garnet surrounded by three rock crystal "diamonds" on either side!

The garnet weighs approx. 3/4 carat, and is set in a foil-backed collet of sterling-grade silver (all metals unmarked but tested). The six rock crystals are graduated in size, from 10 points to 5 points each. The shoulders of the ring feature simple, hand-engraved leaf motifs, and as with most rings dating to the first half of the 18th-century, the rear of the bezel is engraved with rays above and below! The shank of this jewel features gentle fluting, and tests to 15k gold.

What is so amazing about this ring is that it has made it into the 21st-century in untouched, all-original condition; this ring hasn't even been sized in the past 285 years! It was typical for rings of this design to be slightly "D-shaped" in construction; this example is a size 7 1/2, and one can see the signs of the early Georgian lapidary's work when viewing the ring from above and behind. (For another reference, please see the c.1720 Stuart crystal ring also in my shop.) This ring is in outstanding condition for its three century history; none of the stones are damaged, the foil beneath the garnet is perfect, and there are no repairs or replacements! SIMPLY SUPERB!

Weighing in at 2.02 grams, the Georgians invented this "half-hoop" design, and it has become a timeless classic! This beauty really lights up on the hand, and what a history! If you cherish the best in fine Georgian jewelry, this ring should be on your hand and in your collection! It would also make a fabulous gift for any lady fond of the best in investment-worthy antique rings, and will be shipped in a gift box. Most dealers would price this ring at upwards of $3000, but not in my shop; I got a good deal, so why shouldn't you? Do not miss this grand survivor; up to 60-day layaway is available, and USPS Priority mail shipping is FREE!
