Dating to c.1720, this pair of early 18th century Stuart crystal earrings are a highly-sought after survival!
Measuring 5/8" long with their 15k gold ear wires and 10 mm x 10 mm across the crystals, this pair of earrings are an early jewelry collector's dream come true! As most collectors know, Stuart crystals are among the "Holy Grails" of antique jewelry; as well as being the first form of memorial jewelry, these beauties have made it into the 21st-century in fabulous condition! The step-faceted rock crystals cover a swatch of hair laid over red foils in a closed-backed mounting of sterling-grade silver (unmarked but tested)! They look simply radiant on the ear, and are nearing their 300th birthday!
These Stuart crystals are bright and vibrant; they do not display wire cyphers, but this was not unusual in Stuart crystals dating to the early 18th century. At 10 mm x 10 mm, these examples boast slightly larger crystals than those in earrings which I have seen in the past, and they are the perfect alternative to diamonds! Both rock crystals are beautifully-faceted for maximum fire, and are 100% intact. One of the foils is ever-so-slightly brighter than the other; this is not at all noticeable when they are worn, and is only mentioned for complete accuracy. Otherwise, these jewels are as fresh as when they first adorned the ears of a lady of wealth and fashion in the days of King George I! Together, the earrings weigh 2.56 grams.
If you collect the best in Stuart crystal or early Georgina-era jewelry, these wonderfully-wearable earrings belong in your collection! They are suitable for day or evening wear, and will take you from the office to the opera in true early Georgian style! They would also make a grand gift for any lady fond of the finest in historic sentimental jewelry, and will be shipped in a gift box. Do not miss these extra-special earrings; up to 60-day layaway is available, and USPS Priority mail shipping is FREE!
