Dating to c.1900-1910, this elegant Edwardian gold and extra-large natural baroque pearl lavalier necklace is an heirloom-worthy jewel that is a delight to wear!
Measuring 17" long with another 1 1/2" for the pendant drop x 10 mm at its widest point, this all-original necklace has made it into the 21st-century in fabulous, all-original condition! This jewel just shouts "QUALITY!" The foxtail chain is very substantial, weighing 6 grams on its own, and retains its original push-in barrel clasp, which is marked "9CT". But the star of the show is the magnificent natural pearl lavalier, the top segment of which which boasts lovely Arts & Crafts 9kt gold wire work set with a natural pearl! This segment measures 1/2" wide. Below, a drop-dead gorgeous natural white baroque saltwater pearl takes center stage - it measures 16 mm x 10mm, and displays fabulous iridescence, with tints of pink, green, and blue playing over the surface of the solid nacre! SO PRETTY!
I have seen a lot of Edwardian lavalier necklaces over the past 25+ years, but none as lovely and as substantial as this example! This necklace feels fabulous on the neck, and is oh-so-feminine! Together, the chain and pendant weigh 8.98 grams. This jewel is just as fresh today as when it was first worn by a lady of fashion at the turn of the 20th-century, and is suitable for everyday wear. It will take you from the office to the opera in pure Edwardian style, and will harmonize with all of your natural pearl jewelry!
If you love the finest in Edwardian jewelry, this pristine necklace is certain to make a wonderfully-wearable addition to your collection! It would also make a stellar gift for any lady fond of antique pearl jewelry, OR the perfect "something old" for a summer bride, and will be shipped in a gift box.
