Ring-a-ding-ding, its time for Spring, and I am celebrating by offering a wonderful selection of rings for the consideration of my Ruby Lane clientele!
Dating to c.1870-1880, this unisex rose-cut diamond solitaire ring is suitable for wear by a lady or a gentleman, and holds a fine, white, bright rose-cut diamond! The diamond measures 6.1 mm x 7.1 mm and weighs approx. 80 points, although as with all rose-cut diamonds, it "faces up" to a full 1.3 carats! As most collectors know, antique diamonds cannot be graded according to modern GIA standards, but this diamonds is dazzlingly white and completely eye-clean. It is set in a foil-backed, rubbed-over collet of 12k yellow gold with a hint of rose in the alloy.
The ring mounting has become a High-Victorian classic; it is a precursor to the Belcher setting, with openwork on the top, bottom, and shoulders. The shoulders taper back to a plain shank which measures a sturdy 4.5 mm wide. The ring mounting tests as 12k gold, indicating a European origin, but as is the case with many antique rings, it is hot hallmarked. This ring is currently a size 8, but the plainness of the rear of the shank would allow for easy re-sizing by a good bench jeweler for little cost.
Simply a stellar example of a rare Victorian rose-cut solitaire ring, this jewel really lights up on the hand! Best of all, it is in splendid condition for its age; there are no losses to the stone or to the setting after over 145 years! Please note that as with all foil-backed jewelry, this ring should not be exposed to water. This ring will make a covetable right-hand ring for a lady or a gentleman, and weighs in at 4.29 grams. SO LOVELY!
If you collect the best in Victorian jewelry, this ring belongs on your hand and in your collection! The diamond is the birthstone for April, and this jewel would make a fabulous gift for any lady or gent fond of fine antique diamonds! This ring will be shipped in a gift box suitable for giving or storing. Do not miss it; I do not expect to find another I can offer at this low price, up to 60-day layaway is available, and USPS Priority mail shipping is FREE!
