Dating to c.1790, I am thrilled to present this desirable and highly-wearable ring for the consideration of my Ruby Lane holiday shoppers!
Measuring a perfectly-proportioned 1" long x 1/2" wide across the bezel, this English-made beauty is certain to top her Christmas list! Wrought in glowing 18k yellow gold with just a hint of rose, this ring boasts a beautiful transparent Bristol blue enamel plaque which is foiled at the back, giving it a butterfly-wing like iridescence! In the center of the ring a table-cut diamond glitters and winks with pre-Georgian fire; it is likely that whomever had this ring crafted already owned the diamond, as it pre-dates this ring by nearly 100 years!
The diamond measures 2.5 mm in diameter, and weighs approx. 6 points. It is set in its own rubbed-over collet of sterling silver. The border of the bezel is embellished with delightful gold beadwork, and is closed at the back with a plaque of 18k gold (all metals unmarked but tested). The shoulders are plain, tapering to a polished hoop shank. SO ELEGANT!
Perhaps best of all, this ring has made it in to the 21st-century in as fine a condition as the most discerning collector could hope for. It is in 100% intact and original condition, without damage or repairs, and looks as beautiful today as when it first graced the hand of a lady of wealth and fashion over 220 years ago! Weighing in at 4.9 grams this is a substantial ring of the highest quality! It is a size 7 1/4, but the plainness of the rear of the shank would allow for easy re-sizing by a good bench jeweler for little cost.
If you love the best in fine Georgian-era jewelry, this ring belongs on your hand and in your collection! It would also make an investment-worthy holiday gift for that special lady, and will arrive in the gift box you see here. Do not miss this rarity; up to 60-day layaway is available, and USPS Priority mail shipping is FREE!
