Dating to c.1860-1870, this is an exceptionally early example of Victorian masonic jewelry, and is suitable for wear by a lady or a gentleman!
Measuring 1 7/8" x 2 1/8", this large, hand-wrought Star of David brooch is certain to thrill any collector of masonic jewelry! Crafted from sterling silver, this brooch features masonic symbols enameled in vivid blue: the pentagram, square and compass, Temple, and architectural tools are beautifully represented (silver unmarked but tested)!
This beautiful brooch appears to have never been worn in its 160+ history; the silver and the enamel are nothing short of pristine! The reverse of the brooch retains its original "T and C" clasp. This brooch is free of repairs, damage or losses, and looks smashing worn on a sweater or lapel! It is very rare to discover a Scottish Rite brooch designed as a Star of David, and this example is truly exquisite! As it bears no hallmarks, this brooch is likely American in origin.
Weighing in at 7.33 grams, this handsome brooch is suitable for wear by a lady or gentleman. It would also make a stellar gift for anyone fascinated with early jewelry associated either with Judaica or with the Craft, and will be shipped in a gift box suitable for giving or storing this symbolic jewel. Do not miss this one-of-a-kind jewel; I do not expect to find another! Layaway is not available on this item, but USPS Priority mail shipping is FREE!
