Dating to c.1800-18 10, this majestic Georgian amethyst ring comes straight from my own collection of fine antique jewelry, but I rarely wear it, so I am "de-accessing" it for the consideration of my Ruby Lane clientele!
Measuring a breath-taking 20 mm long x 15 mm wide x 10 mm deep, this Regency-era ring boasts one of the largest natural amethysts I have seen in a ring of any era! This gorgeous, medium-violet amethyst weighs a calculated 15.9 carats, and is set in a pushed-up, foiled, closed-backed mounting of 9k gold, so all you can see here is the blazing amethyst (later assay mark of "9CT" inside shank; tested). This jewel is English in origin, and is one of the most impressive rings of this era to have ever graced my personal collection!
The shoulders of this jewel are forked and feature applied gold leaves. It tapers back to a substantial double hoop shank. This gorgeous ring stands almost 1/2" proud of the shank, and make a statement on the hand which is second to none! The amethyst is beautifully faceted all along the border, and is in perfect condition, without damage or facet wear. Remarkably, the foil is still intact after over 210 years! JUST GLORIOUS!
Weighing in at 10.64 grams, this is all the right-hand ring you need; it puts most antique rings in the dark, and what a history! This ring is a size 5 3/4, but could be re-sized by a good bench jeweler for little cost, although I recommend it only be done by laser, so as to protect the integrity of the ring. If you have ever wanted a glorious Georgian amethyst solitaire, you could not do any better than this! It would also make a stellar gift for anyone fond of the best in Regency-era jewelry, and will be shipped in a gift box suitable for giving or storing. Do not miss this fabulous rarity; up to 60-day layaway is available, and USPS Priority mail shipping is FREE!
