This is the finest "Pavillion de Ciboire" (Ciboire Cover) that we have come across in our years of searching in France. The condition is exceptional.
A finely detailed 4 Panel Cover, trimmed with gold Bullion braid, fringe, and stitching. The size is approx. 10" in length, and each panel is 5"wide.
Each panel features hand embroidery in silk threads, with the main panel including the Sacred Heart in Trapunto red velvet, with the Crown of Thorns traced across it in Gold threads, and droplets if rich red blood from the left corner. Above shaded pink roses and leaves.
The next panel features pink silk ribbon bound stalks of wheat and grapevines in shaded hues of silk thread.
The back panel features a Cross with a central "faux ruby" at the center,with accent stitching in gold threads, above pink roses and leaves in shaded hues of silk threads.
The next panel features blue silk ribbon bound vines of pink roses and leaves.
The immaculate embroidery work on the panels is of the finest detail on white silk satin, with wonderful varying hues and shades, and accented with fine gold thread tendrils. The interior is lined with a plain white silk.
