This is quite a wonderful Watercolor!! An original by Albert Penot, a French artist (1862-1930, created CA.1910. (I just revised the price!! my finger made a booboo when listing the price!!)
The painting is of a goodly size..the frame size is approx.26" x 21" (a beautiful modern frame in wood and Metal Leaf finish, with an interior beaded fillet, and protective glass), and the sight size of the watercolor is approx.16.5"x 11.5". All in excellent condition.
The interior of a French Boudoir depicts the "French Maid", trying to see if she fits in her mistress's shoes!! You can see her working "mules" strewn behind her on the floor, as she daintily puts her right foot forward to see how the fancy shoes of Red Silk fit her foot! And they seem to fit very nicely...
She is dressed in a devine costume of a pink satin blouse with a very low neckline, down to a very thin waistline above a peplum, over a pale blue and white striped skirt, with a lacey apron...with matching pale blue stockings.
The room itself has huge doors at the back, with a small rococco console to the right, done in very pale grey and beige (the console has what appears to be a small perfume bottle on the top). She is facing a French chair with the old white bedding thrown over it, destined for the laundry! She was really doing the Maid's job until those "Shoes" overcame her senses!
The Parquet floor is beautifully detailed, and the "shine" reflects her shoes.
A fabulous & detailed watercolor that would look great in your "French Boudoir", your French Parlor, the French Hallway...just about anywhere!!
From my collection to yours......
