Vintage French Sewing Box, Horseshoe Shape, CA.1900
This is quite an unusual French Sewing Box or Keeper, CA. 1900, mostly for sewing needles and maybe your thimble!
It is a smallish size..approx.4"long x 3.5" wide x 1.5" high...in a wonderful pale purple (that has faded to lilac) & gold threads and ribbon, over a wood base for the lid, and a stiff cardboard base for the bottom.
The interior is a white fine cotton with hand painted roses and leaves in pink & green.
The lid has a horseshoe shaped opening with a red puff on which to stick your needles for easy access (never used!!no holes)..with its original cord & tassle used to open the lid.
The condition is fine except for the fading of the original purple, and a few rubs along the edges.
An interesting, colorful, and rare French Sewing box for your collection!!
