Antique French Porcelain Pharmacy/Apothecary Jars, 19th Century
I have a small collection of 4 Rare Antique French Porcelain Pharmacy or Apothecary Jars, produced in the 19th Century, with outstanding hand painted and gilt decor. I am offering these 4 Jars as one lot, for one price.
Featuring an Anchor behind the beautifully Framed Nameplate, with an Entwined Serpent on the bottom of the Anchor, Golden Wings on the Top, with a pair of amusing & colorful "Escargots" flanking the Wings !! What fabulous decor !! We thought that possibly the Anchor theme was specifically created for an Apothecary near the Ocean.... with fabulous decoration that we have never seen before!! Love those Escargots in Pink!!
The Jars are signed "H.Vigner - Paris" on the Base, and each is labeled with a Drug or Ingredient for the Pharmacy. Each Porcelain Jar is approximately 10.5" tall, and they have their original domed lids with the Gilt Ball for grasping the Lid easily. Three Jars are in excellent condition....the one that is "UNG STYRAC" has a repaired ball finial on the lid (see Photo) and a small shrinkage line on the top inside rear of the jar which doesn't show from the exterior...a slight manufacturing fault (see photo).
The price is for the group of all four Pharmacy Jars.....a wonderful and unique addition for your collection!!
