This Victorian Garnet Bracelet is one of the most exuberant we have ever found...it is filled with Garnets of all sizes and color variations of that "Ruby Red". Most of these Garnet jewelry pieces are referred to as "Bohemian" or Czech made, during the Victorian Period and then into the Edwardian Period.
The Victorian jewelry pieces seem to have more elaborate designs and use of the Garnets. The inner structural Band of these Garnet Bracelets is usually of 12 to 14Kt... this one has no markings, but the color is a rich Yellow Gold and would be of at least 12Kt. (I hesitate to mar it by having it tested!.. but I will guarantee it is gold, and not plated like some of the later Garnet pieces.)
The hinge mechanism is intact and very tight, and the security Chain is also intact...I don't believe this Beautiful Bracelet was ever worn..it is so clean and in Excellent condition! (I have it displayed in a modern Bracelet Box which accompanies it.)
The size of the Bracelet itself is approx.2.25" in inner width by 2-3/16" inner front front to back (a very ample size for the wrist)
The Center Oval Design is approx. 1-1/8" long x .75" side, with the Center large Garnet approx. 5/8" long by 7/16" wide...that raised Garnet is surrounded by a raised channel of individually set smaller Garnets in a paler Red, which in turn is above a large raised channel of individually set Dark Garnets, giving the appearance of a large oval Flower.
This Oval is enhanced on either side by a lovely Open work design that frames the oval. The entire outer Band is individually set with a double row of Dark Garnets.
A Beautiful Victorian Garnet Bracelet in the Best Condition you could ever want!
