This Elegant Pair of Portrait Paintings are of a Husband and Wife in the typical "Waist Upward" Pose found in the first part of the 19th Century, in their original Frames. We date them CA.1810-1830.
The image sizes are approx. 3" x 3.5", with the Frames being 7.5" x 8".
The Wife is wearing an elaborate Lace Bonnet with a Fancy Ribbon in front, along with a long Jet Bead Necklace, Jet Earrings & a Brooch. Her dress is a shining Black Satin worn by Conservative Folks during the period. Her hair is in the typical tight curls underneath her Bonnet. She has hazel eyes and a small brown Wart on her chin!! Her condition is excellent.
The Husband is wearing a Black Double Breasted Wool Coat with a high Collar and Cravat. His "Napoleonic" Hair Style was popular at the very beginning of the 19th Century. His portrait shows a slight abrasion in the background color to the right of his shoulder (which could be easily rectified by a professional). His image itself is excellent.
Both Portraits are mounted in their original carved and gilt wood Frames of the Period, of a Neoclassical Style, and complement the paintings perfectly! The Frames show some evidence of Age,
