What a Fabulous Brooch or Pin of Cobalt and Gilded Pate de Verre by Daum...designed by Alexandre Fassianos, CA.1990's, in a very Art Deco Style!! She is named "Idilios"
Fassianos was born in Greece in 1935, and designed this piece exclusively for Daum. His work is bright and elegant, and she is a wonderful tribute to the lines and shapes of women found on ancient Greek Vases...
A large Woman's profile of her Face in Pate de Verre, set in a gilded metal surround, with gilt accents on her wind swept Hair.
The size of the Brooch is approx. 2.5"wide x 2"tall...the Gilded reverse is mounted with two large "Pins" to anchor the piece to either a heavy coat, Scarf or Shawl, and retains the original small metal caps to cover the sharp tips at the end of the Pins when wearing it!! (similar to those used with Stickpins) She is quite a "heavy" lady!
I don't think she was every worn as her condition is absolutely Excellent!! She comes with her original Daum velvet sack, and original Daum box.... purchased in France from a Daum Collector!!
I have shown her clipped to a lucite stand, as a piece of Daum Art...but she is totally wearable... purchased in France from a Daum Collector!!
A quote from Daum's brochure on their Jewelry: "Today Daum introduces a Jewellery Collection in Pate de Verre. As exquisite as a precious stone, this noble material gives vivid expression.... to the Spirit of Antiquity in the creations of Alexandre Fassianos....A fitting tribute to the age-old art of jewellery in Pate de Verre, first practiced by the Egyptians."
Also review the other item of Daum Pate de Verre Jewelry that I have listed, designed by Hilton McConnico... Both are excellent and rare examples of this "Daum Jewellery"....
