What a Fabulous and RARE "Cuff Bracelet, produced by Hilton McConnico for Daum during the late 1980's when he became one of their major designers!!
**And now I have used Better Photographs !! Any flashed or dark areas are from the reflections!** I did include one original photograph that I had used, which is very bright and shows dark blue reflections on the sides of the Bracelet!***
The Bracelet Band is a highly Gilded brass, set with a large Purple disc of Pate de Verre which is incised with "X's". The raised glass Disc is held in its setting by 4 "spear points which are anchored to the Bracelet with with 4 colored "jewels", in Green, Purple, Clear and Cobalt. (I will retke photos as I just noticed that the sides of the bracelet appear "blue", a reflection from the blue background I did not notice!!)
The width of the Band across your wrist is approx. 2.25", the depth across your wrist is approx. 1.75", and the width of the Band itself is 2". It comes with a Daum Box and a Daum Velvet Sack (possibly not the original Box?) The condition of the Bracelet is Excellent!!
The designer for Daum - Joseph Hilton McConnico was born in 1943 in Memphis, Tennessee, and lived and worked in Paris since 1965, starting work for Daum in 1987 (most noted for his "Cactus" series in Glass). He also worked for fashion designers Ted Lapidus & Yves St.Laurent. He was the Set Designer and Art Director for more than 20 films, including the Cult Classic "Diva".
The Memphis Brooks Museum of Art in 1990 held a retrospective of 30 years of his creations and designs.
This Daum Bracelet is signed on the inside.. unique and rarely found in this Excellent & never worn condition.. purchased in France from a Daum Collector!!
A quote from Daum's brochure on their Jewelry: "Today Daum introduces a Jewellery Collection in Pate de Verre. As exquisite as a precious stone, this noble material gives vivid expression.... to the Spirit of Antiquity in the creations of Hilton McConnico....A fitting tribute to the age-old art of jewellery in Pate de Verre, first practiced by the Egyptians."
Also review the other item of Daum Pate de Verre Jewelry that I have listed, designed by Alexandre Fassianos. Both are excellent and rare examples of this "Daum Jewellery"....
A wonderful piece for your collection of Vintage Jewelry or of Daum!!
