This is quite an interesting Surrealist view of a Japanese Garden with Cranes and Ginko Trees, painted by Franco Romano Lazzari, an Italian Artist, during the 1990's.
The stippled background yellow over a pale blue sky reflects the disc of the Rising Sun, which is painted in Gold, as is the Lake water below, which reflects a wonderful dimensional quality when seen in the right Light! (see the side shot of the painting) (this painting was quite difficult to photograph!!)
Lazzari was influenced greatly by the beauty and charm of the Japanese Culture, which is evident in most of his paintings, and I consider this painting to be one of his best works!! The colors are very pleasing, the subject is calming, and the reflective quality of the Gold in the Sun and Water is quite unique.
The various aspects of the Ginko Leaves and the Flying Cranes, which circle the Sun, are nicely assymetrical, visually starting at the lower left and moving up to the tallest tree in front of the Sun Disc. A stroke of whimsy with a petite Escargot balancing on top of the smaller tree on the right, and on the left you can barely see a yellow snake wrapped around another tree trunk. Behind the Central tree there appears to be a Podium with an open book on top?? Lots of hidden symbolism in this painting!!
The mat Black wood frame is original to the painting, and is stepped forward to hold the canvas...the size of the frame is approx. 22" x 18", and the canvas size is approx. 11.5" x 15", and it is in Excellent condition
A unique Painting that is quite pleasing to the eye....
