" This famous engraving originally made by URS GRAF in 1516, titled "Bannertrager mit Seinem Buben", depicting an early Traveler enroute (translates to "Bannertrager with One Boy" - who seems to carrying all of the Gear needed on the travels!). This engraving comes from a CA.1900 German Folio of Art Prints.
It is a very good rendition, and recently custom framed and matted...the image size is 7.5: tall...the frame size is 14" x 17"...in excellent condition.
The Year 1516 was a Leap Year, and on August 18 - King Francis I of France and Pope Leo X sign the Concordat of Bologna, agreeing relationships between church and state in France. December 4 – Treaty of Brussels: Peace is declared between the Kingdom of France and the Holy Roman Empire.
An interesting depiction of Haute Couture at the end of the "Medieval" Period in Europe!! Quite a lot of Fabrics in interesting contortions!
Also view the URS GRAF engraving of a Medieval Lady in all of her "Finery" I am listing...from the same CA.1900 Folio !
