This is another interesting 19th Century French or Italian Dagger with a Cast Bronze Hilt and a highly polished Steel Blade and original Scabbard....the total length with Scabbard is approx. 11.5".
The Hilt is cast in high relief featuring a mask of a Horned Deveil in the middle of both sides, surrounded by elaborate Scrollwork...the pommel end has a similar Mask in a smooshed relief.
The original Scabbard features a Renaissance style Bust of a woman in relief on each side, with bared breasts and an elaborate Crown or Headdress, surrounded by elaborate scrollwork and diamond decor on the edges.
The polished steel blade is approx. 5-3/8" long, with "Sempre" and "G.M. engraved near the Hilt (for Grand Master? or Grand Marshal??)....and double Blood Groves on both sides of the Blade.... it snugs into the Scabbard but is a little loose.
Please review the other "Figural Daggers" I am listing today.....a fine addition to your collections.....
