A Rare "Derbyshire Blue John" Inkstand, Made for the French Market CA.1820-30
This is quite a RARE Inkstand !! Created of "Derbyshire Blue John" for the French Market, CA.1820-1830.
This wonderfully grained and colored Inkstand is crafted of this famous Blue John Stone that was found in Derbyshire, England. It features the usual Bold Crystalization, veined with mostly white and amber matrix...its rectangular form is carved with two Pen Slots, and its multi-faceted Ink cover is mounted with French Empire tooled Bronze Collars.
It retains the original intact Glass insert for holding the ink...the size of the inkstand is approx. 6"long x 4"wide x 3"high.
The condition is Excellent for its Age.....a very unique Desk item crafted from this Rare Blue John Stone!!
