A very unique "Boat Form" Pitcher with Basin, with Empire motifs in a rich Burgundy color background with Gilt Décor, and featuring an Oval Hand Painted Scenic panel in an unusual "Paris Green" and black. The Scene features a Toll Bridge and River Boatman.
This form is unique, but was popular during the Empire Period and was a form produced in silver as well as Porcelain. The mark is a "Sevres" type mark on the base of the Basin & the Pitcher...and we assume it was produced pre-1850.
The Pitcher is approx. 12" tall and the Basin is 15"long x 9.5"wide, and it is in excellent condition.
A very interesting French Empire accessory that is rarely found.....
