This very charming French Art Deco Bronze figural group is signed on the attached bronze plaque: Ary-Jean_Leon Bitter, and cast by the Foundry "Susse Freres", Paris, in the 1920's.
The French artist Ary Bitter (1883-1973), was a well known Art Deco sculptor in Paris, and exhibited at the Salons of the Period.
The total size of this Figure is 26"long x 11"high x 5"deep.
Featuring a Young Faun charming & mesmerizing a young Doe with a tune on his "Pipes". The Faun has the usual Cloven Hooves and tall pointed ears, and lots of curly hair. Both are resting on a Shepherd's cloak, near a Staff with Ribbons.
The panoramic Bronze is uniquely incorporated on a two-tiered Marble Base, which is mounted with a Bronze Plaque for the signatures.
Ary Bitter modeled many bronzes in the manner of Rembrandt Bugatti, who was his contemporary. The quality, presentation, Patina and condition are all excellent. This Bronze has been in our collection for quite some time, and is now ready to grace your home with delight! Fabulous for an Art Deco Console Table or Sideboard.....
