A lovely bar pin made in Birmingham, England, of sterling silver in 1912. A heart within a heart, the symbolism of this lovely pin, was often given as tokens of love and remembrance. The custom of giving sweetheart jewelry dates back to World War I, when soldiers would give their wives, girlfriends, mothers, sisters, and children miniature replicas of military badges as keepsakes. This example has an open c clasp with an elongated pin, typical of the era. It is in excellent vintage condition and will be shipped in the box illustrated.
