We are offering this wonderful collectible pin that most like dates from the 1950's. Representing the two well known characters Li’l Abner and Daisy Mae, it is based on the comic strip created by Al Capp in 1934. It is described as a chatelaine pin with 4 inches of chain connecting LI'l Abner to Daisy Mae. She is in hot pursuit so she can take him to the Sadie Hawkins dance. It is made with goldtone metal that has painted details applied. It is fairly large with Li’l Abner measuring about 2 5/8 inches by 2 inches. Daisy Mae is about 2 1/4 inches by 2 inches. The chain that holds them together is about 4 inches long. There are no markings on it to indicate maker or date. There are two safety clasps, one behind each character. They function well. The condition is very nice. The gold is still bright. The painted accents are also in very good condition with only very minor chipping. One cannot help but wonder where this has been stored all these years since it is in such nice shape. This is a fine collectible piece of jewelry that usually commands a very high price.
